A traditional coffee house with Viennese style and history

Cafe Savoy, one of the most beautiful cafés in Vienna: an authentic venue of the colorful and diverse city community

Cafe Savoy was never just about drinking coffee. It was about seeing and being seen, getting to know each other and meeting there, about excitement and relaxation. In Cafe Savoy you can enjoy not only one of the best coffees in town, as well delicious pastries and dishes, but also a special mixture of national and international guests. Diversity is celebrated here and the venue has also become an inherent part of the gay scene.

In addition to the Palace of Versailles, the Cafe Savoy contains the largest mirrors in Europe, a previously gas-powered and subsequently electrified Theophil-Hansen chandelier, a fire-gilded salon chandelier, the two Egyptian statues from the estate of Balett-god Rudolf Nureyev, Rococo wall lights, innumerable statues, marble, brass, stucco and wall marbling.

The Cafe Savoy is located in the city palace of the textile manufacturer Baron Julius Leon von Wernburg, who had it built in 1896/1897 by the architect Franz Ritter von Neumann in a splendid neo-Renaissance style. Neumann learned from the architects of Siccardsburg and van der Nüll, the builders of the Vienna Opera.

The Cafe Savoy has retained its inspiring interior from its opening in 1897 until today. It lies next to the splendid buildings of Otto Wagner (Majolikahaus) and the Naschmarkt and often served as a photo and film set. Cafe Savoy has always been an open house. From tourists to the artist scene to the gay community, everything meets in the beautiful historic Cafe Savoy. It remains an unforgettable memory!
